Seems a bit presumptuous, doesn’t it?

Su, according to an insightful piece in Wired, has indeed transformed the company from a nearly bankrupt entity to a market leader giving Intel a run for their money, literally. But it does seem a bit premature to declare that there is nothing left for her to achieve, doesn’t it?

Su’s leadership at AMD saw the launch of Ryzen microprocessors, the game changing hardware that put them back on the map. Now AMD processors can be found in high-performance desktops, servers, and game consoles. Even Microsoft and Sony have partnered with them for their next-generation gaming systems.

As if that’s not thrilling enough, consider the gallant growth numbers AMD posted under Su’s watch. Wired’s article informs us that AMD’s share price has skyrocketed from $3-ish in 2015 to a whopping $90-ish in 2021. Talk of clinging to the cliff’s edge and literally fashioning wings on the way down.

But, so what, right? Su’s big, bold vision was delivered with near flawless execution, and brought AMD from near-extinction to the top. No biggie. Definitely sounds like someone who has “not much left to accomplish”.

Here’s a nugget of trivia from the original article. Lisa Su started her tenure at AMD in 2014, taking over a company that made losses for three years straight. They were $1.6 billion in debt and facing an existential crisis. She didn’t back down. She came in, took names, steered the ship, and now, AMD not only exceeded its own financial expectations, but also surpassed those of Wall Street’s bigwigs.

While some may argue there isn’t much left for Su to accomplish, others would say she’s just getting started. Either way, this titan of tech clearly has some lessons to teach in leadership, strategy and blindingly fast comebacks.

But let’s not get too starry-eyed here. There’s a long road to tech world domination and Lisa Su got AMD off to a roaring start. No doubt there’s more to accomplish, more boundaries to push and more competitors to leave in the dust. Just wait and watch.

Read the original article here: https://www.wired.com/story/big-interview-event-lisa-su-amd/

“Declaring Lisa Su accomplished all at AMD feels akin to saying Da Vinci simply finished a ‘nice little painting’ with the Mona Lisa.
