Trump Showcases AI-Produced Pictures, Humorously Alleges Swiftie Support

“Trump Shares AI-Generated Images Claiming Swifties Are Supporting Him”

“Computers can dream up all sorts of things. OpenAI, a research group co-founded by Elon Musk, recently taught a machine to create images from nearly any text prompt. Give it a sentence or two, and it will paint you a picture.”

The 21st century truly does amaze. AI is now abundant with creativity, to the degree that it can convincingly bring to life, the weirdest and wildest of requests. And who, might you guess, would entertain such bizarre requests? None other than the former US President, Donald Trump.

According to WIRED, not only did Trump dip his toes into the world of AI creativity, but he paddled in with a notion to generate an AI version of Taylor Swift. Now, that’s a twist one didn’t foresee. The source of this AI produced image generation is OpenAI, a research group co-founded by Elon Musk. The AI engine, dubbed “DALL-E,” has been taught to create images from virtually any text prompt. So, it’s not an imaginative leap to think of the innumerable, potentially insane scenarios this software could conjure up.

The question now unanswered is, “Why Taylor Swift?”. Anything more random? But, let’s not dwell too much into the reasons for the choice. Trump took to his new social network, Truth Social, to share an AI-generated image of Swift in the style of a Vincent van Gogh painting. Yes, read that again. Taylor Swift, as imagined by a machine, painted by Vincent van Gogh. The Internet never ceases to bewilder.

In theory, OpenAI’s innovative technology has several legitimate and probable applications. But, in the hands of internet trolls and mischief-makers, one can only envision the potential absurdities. And with celebrities like Taylor Swift unwillingly being dragged into this AI rodeo, it’s a brave new world out there.

Hence, while OpenAI and DALL-E deserve applause for pushing the boundaries of what AI can do, cautious optimism might be the best stance. After all, no one knows who the next unsuspecting celebrity is, waiting in line to be, as it were, ‘Van Gogh-ed’ by an AI. These are indeed interesting times.
