We’ve been promised flying cars, thick-rimmed spectacles equipped with mobile technology, and now, we’ve successfully set our sights on birthing the next wave of human-like robots, thank you artificial intelligence (AI). It’s like standing on shifting sands of a beach, enjoying the view of the vast ocean-like possibilities, but also just one rogue wave away from our digital utopia getting a little… waterlogged.
Some of us are convinced we’re on the precipice of an exciting new era – where AI will deliver solutions to confounding problems, catalyze economic growth, and revolutionize our social interactions. And then there’s the rest of us – the wary and somewhat skeptical folk. We can’t help but envision an army of unmanageable RoboCops causing havoc in our already, let’s say, chaotic world.
