Meta Encourages its Metaverse Employees to Expedite Progress with AI, Targets a 5X Speed Boost!

“Meta Tells Its Metaverse Workers to Use AI to ‘Go 5X Faster’”

“In a call with reporters on Tuesday, Zuckerberg made it clear that he views AI as the answer. He announced that Meta Platforms—Facebook’s newly named parent company—would hire 10,000 ‘top-tier’ engineers in the European Union to develop ‘world-class AI’.”

Roll out the red carpet! Here comes Zuckerberg, heralding AI as the messiah that will save us all. Evidently not satisfied with one realm, now he’s aiming to conquer the metaverse. At least, that’s the indication from his call with the press, where the Meta Platforms (read ‘newly renamed Facebook parent company’) bigwig unveiled plans to recruit a staggering 10,000 ‘top-tier’ engineers across the European Union. The mission? To concoct ‘world-class AI’. Iron Man, anyone?

The AI crusade doesn’t stop there. In addition to its army of gifted engineers, Meta is pumping billions into AI to make funky glasses and wristbands that’ll allow users to interact in the metaverse, a blend of multiple virtual and augmented realities stacked together. Totally not creepy, right?

It comes as no surprise that this grand ‘AI vision’ fits snugly into Zuckerberg’s ultimate goal of converting Meta into a ‘metaverse company’, a move that’s not without controversy. Just when we thought we’d seen it all, from secret algorithms to privacy rows, riding the wave of AI into the metaverse is now apparently on the cards. Oh, the excitement!

There’s no doubt that technology has moved astounding leaps and bounds in recent years. It’s even possible that Zuckerberg might just manage to pull off this apparent transformation from a social-media giant to the overlord of the metaverse.

Nevertheless, it’s pretty hard to overlook the daunting task of creating the software and hardware from scratch, not to mention striking an ethical balance in dealing with the privacy quandaries the metaverse will undoubtedly hurl in Zuckerberg’s direction.

‘Defining and regulating a whole new type of space is not something we take lightly,’ he said. No kidding! But then again, ‘Privacy is a human right’, remember? However this saga unravels, one thing is a safe bet: Zuckerberg’s quest to define, develop and dominate the metaverse is going to be one thrilling ride.

Now go ahead and mark this day in your calendar, folks. It might just be the day we find ourselves asking, ‘Remember when Facebook was just a social media platform?’ Oh, the nostalgia.
