Oh, and don’t even get us started on newsgathering! Apparently, AI has its virtual nose all over breaking news before even the best journalistic bloodhound can get a whiff.
And for the love of art and beauty, the audacity of AI to surpass human performance in facial detection is unforgivable. I mean who are we kidding? Robots knowing faces better than your neighbourhood gossipy aunt? What’s next? Machines being more sociable at parties?
To cap it all, the experts are saying that blunt tools such as Turing Tests or chess championships won’t cut it anymore. They’re pressing for new, forward-thinking ways to evaluate AI, reflecting incredible capabilities that could potentially eclipse human abilities in virtually all subjects.
In a nutshell, the tech big brains are calling out the larva-like benchmarks for AI measurement just as artificial intelligence starts to metamorphose like a butterfly. All we can hope for is that this newfangled AI butterfly doesn’t turn out to be a Mothra, gobbling up centuries of human intellectual superiority.
