“Property Business Experiencing the Humorous Ups and Downs in its Artificial Intelligence Epoch”

“Real Estate Is Entering Its AI Slop Era”
“More than a decade in, the era of drones, machine learning, and AI-powered everything seems to be having its real-estate moment at last.”
If we were to believe everything we hear about the integration of AI technology into every nook and cranny of our society, we’d be forgiven for thinking we’re on the cusp of a complete societal transformation. Apparently, so says the industry of real estate, ever the slow-moving behemoth in the wheel of the technology integration marathon, who seems to finally have hitched a ride in the AI bandwagon.
What does this signal for the humble homebuyers, sellers, and brokers out there? It’s hard to envisage a world in which AI technology sips coffee while going over property listings and price trends. Nonetheless, it seems technology is determined to replace the human element. Offering projections for market trends, spotting anomalies in property maintenance, and even predicting the “perfect time to sell”, AI is determined to become your new real estate guru.
Does this signal the end of the quintessential, charismatic real-estate agent with their riveting neighborhood tales and hard-negotiating techniques? In all likelihood, not. Remember, data spewing AI lacks the human touch. It can’t empathize with you over the perfect family home or go the extra mile to make sure the school district is up to snuff. It knows facts, figures, maybe even patterns, but it doesn’t know people. Quantifying the so-called “emotional intelligence” is a tall order – even for artificial intelligence.
Let’s remember the sailing ship era here, folks. Just like humans did not instantly abandon their sailboats when the steamship arrived, they sure won’t instantly give up their friendly neighborhood real estate agents for a data-driven computer program anytime soon.
Yes, AI can indeed be more precise than human intuition in many instances. By swiftly chewing through a large amount of data, it could potentially help to flag possible discrepancies, streamline administration duties, cut costs and speed-up processes which is always a boon for businesses. But then again, it’d be stellar if it could also cook dinner while it’s at it.
In the end, as slick as artificial Intelligence is, it cannot fully grasp and understand the whims, needs, and fantastical dreams of a human. If you’re looking for an algorithm to predict the real estate trend a year from now – great, there’s an App for that. But if you’re trying to find a home that matches your vision of a sun-drenched breakfast nook, right down to the color of the kitchen tiles – you might still want to stick to good ol’ Mr. or Ms. Real Estate Agent. Just saying!
