Innovative Defense Firm Crafts AI Agents with a Blast – Literally!

“This Defense Company Made AI Agents That Blow Things Up”

“The AI agents in Scout were exploring a 3D environment littered with movable objects. Every now and then, the AI would walk up to an item, look at it, and then carry it somewhere else to try to blow it up. Sometimes, it succeeded; sometimes it failed. But gradually, in this way, the AI started to figure out what sort of things could be exploded and what couldn’t.”

Where’s the kaboom?!

AI agents in Scout are, without a doubt, experiencing the explosive thrill of blowing stuff up. Trial and error is the name of the game, and these bots are finding out in their own sweet time precisely which items can be dropped into the ‘spectacular explosion’ category and which, disappointingly so, cannot.

Is this the bravest the tech world has to offer? Surely, this could equate to more than a game of hot potato. Yet, here we find ourselves, watching on as Scout’s AI agents run a sporadic experiment. Sometimes they succeed in their explosive endeavors; sometimes they don’t even manage so much as a ‘pop’. There’s no pattern to it, no consistency. More like a toddler playing with a set of unpredictable, explosive building blocks.

It isn’t a leap to say that we really are in the age of technology. It’s only a matter of time until our automated friends acquire the finesse to consistently spark the right bang. Perhaps, with some more ‘playtime’ in their 3D playground, these AI agents could graduate from faux pas bomb technicians to consistent demolition experts in no time flat.

In the grander scheme of AI progression, this ‘blowing things up’ project – exciting as it may sound – is a tiny piece of the puzzle. It’s more about figuring out how to maneuver the physical world than causing carnage and chaos. Which is kind of disappointing, really.

But alas, we look forward to seeing the AI agents in Scout graduate from their explosive kindergarten to something with a bit more finesse. Preferably sooner rather than later, because watching things fizzle out at the last second is just not as exciting as a ground-shaking kaboom.
